Plz Help

There are many pre-made home plans available & you can buy some books at Lowe’s & Home Depot showing many designs, styles, & sizes for ordering a pre-made plan, you can even get a CD with some of them. But the very first thing you need to do is check with your local zoning office to see what the "setback" requirements are. There will be zoning codes/laws that you will need to consider before you can choose a house plan. The setback codes will apply to each side, the front, and the rear for the home, any garage, and any storage buildings that may be built on a lot also.

Example: Here in my town the setbacks are:
1. Front of home has to be set back at least 25 feet from the street, roadway, or alley fronting the home.
2. Each side of the home must be setback at least 15 feet from each property line along the side.
Using that example and with one of my lots I own (50×150) I can only build a home that is no more that 20 feet wide and it must be built in the center of the lot.

Your local zoning office will be more than helpful for you and probably has all that info printed and ready to hand out for their citizens. They may also have that info on their website too. Most ready made home plans are designed for a typical lot size of 75×150 (or bigger) that is available on the market now & have been for many years. You may need a architect to custom design the home for your particular needs & small lot size. Depending on where you live & want to build there may be county zoning codes only but there may also be the town/city zoning codes too so you’ll need to check with both. Some cities allow for a home in a closed alley and/or between other existing buildings so you’ll need to ask about that also if your lot is located in one of those areas.

My best guess is that you’ll need an architect to design a custom home for you.

i am grad in commerce can i do Architectural Engineering, and tell me best inst. for admission?

Posted by admin on January 29th, 2010 and filed under architectural engineering | 3 Comments »

plz tell me few names of best institute and colleages of architectural engineering and what major points i should keep in mind to take admission so that after completing my course i will get good job in industry.plz keep this in mind that i have justdone graduation in commerce. plz give me the good direction (from Delhi)

After completing B.Com the good option for you is to do a Masters Degree M.Com or MBA. Do you want to spend five more years in doing B.Arch.! Which I think is not a good option. You three years of study for B.Com to get a Bachelors degree will go waist. Than again you wish to get Bachelors Degree by spending five more years. This decision should have taken by you after 10+2.

If you want to study Architecture than you have to appear in entrance test NATA- National Aptitude Test in Architecture to get admission in B.Arch. 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized Board/University with Mathematics as a subject of examination with the least 50% aggregate marks is the minimum academic qualification for admission to first year of 5-year Arch degree course through NATA. Your ranking in NATA will decide which Institute you get.

Some Institutes also accept AIEEE -All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Examination candidates for admission to B.Arch. You can appear in AIEEE and get good ranking to get good Institute.

So, you either appear in NATA or AIEEE.

What is the difference between interior design and interior design+foundations for design?

Posted by admin on January 29th, 2010 and filed under interior design | 2 Comments »

I’m taking interior design in a year and ahalf for univeristy…
and I’m requesting the info right now.
but it gives to program choices…interior design and interior design with foundations for design?
Whats the difference?
which oen do i choose? I only want to be an interior designer.

You will need to check with whomever answers questions for your design program as to which one you should take; its impossible to answer for the data above exactly. That way you will get the best answer for your school. One may be for the degree & the other just an intro class etc.

What’s the difference between these architectural programs?

What’s the difference between these architectural programs?

BA in architecture
BS in architecture
Environmental Design

Thanks!

BA architecture means bachelor in arts architecture, and BS architecture means bacher in science architecture. Practically, these are same programs except the names are called differently in terms of schools. Mine’s called B.Arch = Bachelor of Architecture. These all are one same program for undergrad architecture program. Environmental Design, I actually have never heard of it as a separate program other than as a course in one of those programs. But I assume it studies environmental impact of buildings, counting up CO2 emissions and such? Go search schools. Schools all have different names for the program which is basically the same.

This concrete will be use for walls, flooring, countertops…
I’m in the Environmental Design class and need this info for my project. It would be great if the info contains their level of standards of sustainability. Thank you!

Although an older article this does share some insight.

Good Luck

Can Someone tell me how Sydney Opera House A good design?

Posted by admin on January 16th, 2010 and filed under house design | 2 Comments »

Can someone tell me how Sydney Opera House A good design? and what forms were used? Thank You for asnwering.

I’ve never actually been there in person, but the Sydney Opera House is very individual, it’s unique. It has become ‘iconic’ of Sydney. There are many such structures around the world that have come to symbolize the places they are–the Eiffel Tower, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Leaning Tower, the Great Pyramid, the Statue of Liberty, the Big Ben tower, etc. When you see a picture of the Opera House (and maybe the bridge) you know it’s Sydney. I’m sure that was one of its design goals, and very successful.

There are other definitions of ’success’ of course, like did it pay back its cost? Is it a good place to see an opera? Is it economical to maintain? For those, you’ll have to do some Googling.

I don’t like my culture? ?

Posted by admin on January 16th, 2010 and filed under architectural photography | 6 Comments »

Ok I’m a guy and I’m 14 I was born in the US and my parents are Egyptian… Ok I myself hope to be a chef or a fashion designer one day, But the Egyptian culture is all about engineering and doctoring. My parents will be very disappointed if they found out what I wanna be, they always ask but I just say I don’t know and I was really hesitant in picking my classes for high school because I wanted something more art oriented (ie, music, art, photography) but I ended up getting architectural design and my dad is really pushing me into being a man, once I wanted to chemically straighten my hair and he told me real men don’t do that. I’m really in touch with my feminine side and my mom gets really mad when I’m fixing my nails and using lotion and fixing my eyebrows and such. Once I didn’t do very good on this test and my teacher said it was ok if me didn’t do well, everyone fails every once in a while and I told my mom it was ok and people do fail tests and she said : "No, Americans say that, Us Egyptians don’t say or do that, We pass every and test and task" I don’t like Egyptian movies I don’t like Egyptian shows and I’m not such a fan of egyptian food either or Egyptian music.Asian culture much more I really like Asian food and I think Asian girls are really cute and I like how Asians’ eyes are and like like their innocent attitude and how they are really smart and they way they laugh and stuff. . Bottom line, I don’t like being Egyptian! I really wish I was Asian…

Asian culture isnt all that great either. My dads asian and my mums british. I can really see the difference between western and eastern cultures and can relate to you. As I want to be an actress and study drama and dance, whereas my dad would like me to become a doctor or somehow follow in his footsteps. This is how I took control of my life;

I had to sit him down and simply tell him. Yes; he was upset. It took a while for me to reassure him I was sure this is what I wanted to do. But it’s my life. That’s it. They have to accept that. This may sound harsh, but if they don’t, then you shouldnt be living so close to them. I’m not sure of your age, but, if you are old enough to live on your own, I urge you to find the money to do so.

Also, it’s harsh to disown your culture altogether. Your parents sound strict and thiv may put you off it. But I think you need to discover true egyptian culture on your own. You may come to like it. And, if you dont, then, when you’re old enough, you could consider learning chinese/Indian/Arabic (Where ever you like in Asia) and moving to that country.

Best of luck. =)

xoxo
