What are the best colleges in the country for interior design?

Posted by admin on February 5th, 2010 and filed under interior design | 1 Comment »

I am a junior in high school and I am interested in pursuing interior design. I live in Santa Monica, so I am down the street from Los Angeles. I am curious as to what the most prestigious colleges are for interior design in the U.S. but I am most interested in the Los Angeles City area. Thanks!

I have been researching this too. I am about to graduate with a degree in something more general, so my options are a little bit limited compared to yours. However, I have found the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM), California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), California State University, Northridge (CSUN), Woodbury University, and Santa Monica College. These programs all look like they are worth finding out more information. Right now, I’m leaning toward choosing FIDM, but I’m still unsure.

Please, let me know which program you end up choosing and why. It will really help me in my own search. You can email me.

Best Architectural Firms in Vancouver?

Posted by admin on February 5th, 2010 and filed under architectural firms | 1 Comment »

Hi Everyone,

I will be moving to Vancouver in a few months. Currently I am working for an architectural firm doing administration but I am not guaranteed a transfer to the Vancouver’s office.

Can anyone recommend the best and most reputable firms to work for in Vancouver (and area)? I would prefer commercial over residential, but because of the slowing market and the already dense development – I’ll take anything!

My second choice is to work for a construction company, does anyone have an idea of what good companies i should be looking for as well?

Thanks everyone in advance for your suggestions!

What were the architectural contributions from the Mayans?

i’m writing a paper on the Mayans and i’d like to elaborate on Mayan architectural contributions to modern civilizations.

Tikal in Guatemala, and Chichen-itza in the Yucatan, are two among many, of the greatest pyramidal structures in the world.
