architectural drafting is bascially technical drawing. Where you are an architect’s drafter and you have to techically draw (draft) their plans, sections, elevations etc for them.
This is what architecture students have to do for their first job, is to start off as an architect’s drafter.
if you are referring to the artistic illustrations, that is architectural illustration, where you render, paint – capture the aesthetics of a building. architectural drafting is not artistic, mostly lines, or angles, its about clarity and communication – strictly objective so no artistic interpretation.
is drafting good? it depends. you’re basically sitting at a drawing board with the typical t square, paraplines, rotings pens etc and inking the drawing. its up to you if you will enjoy that type of work.

im starting college in a few weeks and im a architectural engineering major i need a good lap top that will be able to accommodate my auto-cad program and more if any body knows what would be the best that would be so helpful

Many technical colleges offer this. Often it is a two year program stressing proper board work and, naturally, AutoCad.
I’ve inclueded a link to a technical college I taught at for 9 years. Their architectural drafting program was excellent. I’m sure there are others in other states.

Or is it a good idea to get two drafting tables, one with the drafting machine and one with the parallel ruler?
Its for architectural drafting, if that makes a difference.
For the precision you need, either is satisfactory. The drafting machine is more useful.
I am able to get clients here and there to do there drafting but it’s not always available. I am able to make $200 a day with my speed on my own. I am making $25 an hour were I work. I would make more working on my own, but the work sometimes runs out. I would like to one day be my own boss because of the benefits. I But I also have a family and don’t want to risk everything and fail. I am no architect so I usually have to be the middle man but still get paid ok money.
