I’m going to college next year, and I really want to consider my major now. I love both math and art, and I figure since architectural engineering is the math side and architecture is the art side, it would be good to do a double major, but I’m afraid it would be too tough. I’m also considering a major or minor in environmental engineering so that I can design "green" buildings. What would be the best choice?

Major in just Architecture Engineering! " Architecture Engineering covers borth "architecture" and "engineering" so you get the best of both worlds. Dont minor in Environmental Engineering because it has nothing to do with green design instead its more of Environmental issues study. Minor in something you feel will go in hand with your Architecture Engineering major!!
Good Luck!!

plz tell me few names of best institute and colleages of architectural engineering and what major points i should keep in mind to take admission so that after completing my course i will get good job in industry.plz keep this in mind that i have justdone graduation in commerce. plz give me the good direction (from Delhi)

After completing B.Com the good option for you is to do a Masters Degree M.Com or MBA. Do you want to spend five more years in doing B.Arch.! Which I think is not a good option. You three years of study for B.Com to get a Bachelors degree will go waist. Than again you wish to get Bachelors Degree by spending five more years. This decision should have taken by you after 10+2.

If you want to study Architecture than you have to appear in entrance test NATA- National Aptitude Test in Architecture to get admission in B.Arch. 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized Board/University with Mathematics as a subject of examination with the least 50% aggregate marks is the minimum academic qualification for admission to first year of 5-year Arch degree course through NATA. Your ranking in NATA will decide which Institute you get.

Some Institutes also accept AIEEE -All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Examination candidates for admission to B.Arch. You can appear in AIEEE and get good ranking to get good Institute.

So, you either appear in NATA or AIEEE.
Any other Arch. Engineering related books are also will be welcome.

Structural Concepts and Systems for Architects and Engineers by Lin and Stotesbury is an outstanding book on the fundamentals of large structural systems. It’s out of print, but you can find it in online bookstores, or look in your school library.

Northeastern University. They focus on a cycle where every engineering student does one co-op per year. That’s kind of their thing.

But any reputable engineering school will offer co-ops and internships, although it’s up to you to do them (and I *highly* recommend that you do.) So look at strong engineering schools, and they’ll be attractive to employers looking for engineering co-ops. A few I used to like to hire co-ops from were Rensselaer Polytechnic, Boston University, Worcester Polytechnic and Olin College of Engineering.

Architectural Engineering involves all the specialties concerned;
Civil, Structural, Mechanical, (Heating & Plumbing), and Electrical.

The Architect, and his sub-contracted Engineers usually also
You’ll need a degree from an college with an accredited architectural or engineering school. Here in Indiana, only Ball State, Notre Dame, and Valporaiso are accredited arhcitectural schools. Purdue has an accredited engineering school. You’ll need to do your homework to see which colleges will have an architectural or engineering program. And they are not 4 year programs. Most are at least 5 years. You’re going to need a lot more than just a GED, that’s for sure!

I am a junior in high school,and i am looking to go into the field of architectural engineering. I was wondering if anyobdy knows the rating for the top 5 or 10 AE programs.

Wikipedia has a list of Architectural Engineering schools. There’s no preeminent program, so the "name" of the school is what matters most. Some "name" schools include Cal Poly, Drexel, Milwaukee School of Engineering.

If you’re looking for training in this field, and don’t want the academic rigor of the true Engineering degrees, you should investigate "Architectural Engineering Technology" (Bachelor’s Degree) – for which University of Cincinnati (OMI College) has a good reputation. Western Kentucky University has a respected Bachelor’s Degree program in Architectural Sciences.
