How do I find state and local government bids and RFPs across the US for my small architectural business?

My company does industrial architectural projects and consulting on the federal side already. We are already aware and utilize FedBizOps but we are looking to find some of the recovery and stimulus money bestowed to state and local governments.

There are too many websites to look for one or even 10 people to find enough leads. My company uses bidprime.com to locate state and local government bids. They mainly get their federal opportunities from Fedbizopps, but their subscriber search consolidates all the information into one inbox.

Also, I think this website has the best coverage when it comes to municipalities in the US

More specifically I would love to go forth in getting a degree in the architectural field but I’m not very good in math, but I’m pretty good at designing especially with computer programs ( like CAD, etc..) anyone know any jobs in the architectural field that is more towards design rather then more towards math and problem solving?

Architects having academically good background in physics and mathematics are preferred by International Recruiters. The aspirant should be a creative artist with an interest and bent towards designing. Since the work involves complex designing problems, building economies and cost estimations, it is important to possess good mathematical ability along with a sound technical edification. Considering the fact that architects often deal with legal procedures and documents it is good for them to understand legal language related to their profession.

I work for an architects and really want to learn how to do photo realistic architectural visuals?

Does anyone know of a course which i can join to do photo realistic architectural visuals. I have found a few private firms that give you 2 day courses but I’m not convinced that they can get me to a quality of visual i am after. I am looking for a college/university course based in the south of england/london.

If you already work for an Architect, why don’t you ask the people you’re working with?
Someone there must have done a similar course in the past.

Whats the difference between an Interior Architect & a Architectural Designer?

There is Interior Architect then there is Architectural designer. Whats the difference?

Simple terms? An interior architect will choose your curtains and an architectural designer will design the building to put the curtains in!
Seriously, an Interior architect specialises in the alterations and construction of building interiors, and can run all the way down to very simple things like curtains.
An architectural designer will usually design the exterior of a building. Depending on the size of the project, they may or may not specify internal finishes.

I was just wondering what school is better for the architectural technology program.

I am currently a senior in high school, and I plan to have a career in becoming an architectural draftsman? What are the requirements of becoming one? In other words, are there certain skills that are needed?

I would say with all honesty anyone who wants to could be a draftsman..But very few who try are really good at…It is a skill and an art and if the flare for the design is not there then the final product is just not as good…I have worked with lots of people who do drawing ,,I do a lot of computer modeling and there have been only a couple in 40 years that were really Genius at that craft. You have to have clarity of thought to view the project and understand how its assembled and know whats needed.Your section through the wall needs to be important and be easy to look at as well as instructional for the builder .Of course the correctness of how its put together goes with out saying. A fine drafts-person can basically manage ,construct and supervise the entire project..The basic skills of building construction and insight and a keen eye for detail really helps..In the past few years CAD systems have taken over the drawing aspects of the designers page. However it still takes a good Designer to assemble the facts into a work of art…Learn a long life program like Autoc^d by Autode^k and grow with it..Find someone that will front you a copy or contact them for an educational set of keys…Everyone I know is capable of making drawings but only a few can create art …From the E

I really want to go into college for architectural history and then get my graduate in real estate. What classes should I take in high school so I can qualify to go into that field?

I think that you need to do well in math and physics. Art and world history classes would also be beneficial.

I am not sure if this is related to architectural program/software but you can try Google SketchUp. You can build anything from buildings/cities to even furniture.

What are good books for learning about architectural drawing?

I am really interested in drawing houses and I would like to learn more about the various techniques used in drawing architectural renderings with ink, markers, colored pencils etc. I’d also like to learn some basic information about architecture and different types of buildings and houses. What books would be helpful?
