I’m interested in learning architectural and becoming an architect. But the problem is…will I be able to find a job after I finish my studies?
I don’t want to end up being jobless, after spending years learning architectural studies.
Conservatively, it is expected that demand for architects will hold steady through the year 2008. However, demand to fill positions within the architectural field will depend on geogrpahic location of employment and specialty within the field, among other influences.
More so than most many construction related positions, employment is affected by the overall trend of commercial building construction and re-development efforts. But with emphasis on both rehabilitating and transforming existing structures, employment associated with firms that are well established may continue to progress with business growth.
Other commercial architects may find opportunities slim. Although in areas such as those involved with healthcare, security, defense and technology; positions may thrive from funding in these industries.
Architect jobs in the residential sector can expect to benefit slightly from increased new residential housing starts, which will be affected by interest rates. Since the service of the residential sector is mainly comprised of the self-employed, employment in this sector may feel its membership gaining as an outlet from private/contractor employer firms.
The entire architect job market, stressing proven experience/track record combined with computer CADD requirements as it now does will be seeking these qualifications with an advantage over the amount of new graduates entering the workplace.
Competition in general for entry level positions on-up is likely to produce a greater wealth of labor and choices for employers of architects.
show how the new technology changed architectural design in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, focusing on Garnier, Sullivan and Wright. How does form follow function? Why is the Paris Opera a triumph of historicism, and how do Sullivan and Wright treat the organic and inorganic?
One of the single most important "new technologies" was the development of the elevator safety brake by Otis in 1852. It made tall buildings possible.
Civic architectural and public sculpture have served as potent symbols of power for many cvilizations through out history.

Where would I go? What qualifications would I need? I can’t find anything like this on university courses but I know architectural historians exist so they must have learnt it somewhere!
Take Art History classes. I learned a lot about architectural periods and styles through Art History.
I’ve been offered the chance to do either HND Construction Management or HND Architectural Design.
What jobs would be on offer to a person with those qualifications and what would the pay be like?
Is it worth loosing out on becoming a tradesman to do one of those courses?
You could become a chartered engineer/architect earning upwards of £30k. i would do it if i was you. i am beginning an architectural engineering degree in september and hope to be a civil engineer afterwards.
most engineering companies only look for HND qualified in engineers.
as a tradesman your earning potential is limited – as an architect or engineer you could be earning the big bucks in a few years.
hope this helps and good luck, you have to be really passionate about it to succeed in this field though so if youre non chalant about it i wouldnt bother.
I heard that Architectural Engineering also has a lot to do with the heating and the AC (electrical). Is it true?
I would really have to disagree with Caveman’s response. That myth of the architect being an artist have been certainly perpetuated by prominent figures like Frank Lloyd Wright and Le Corbusier, but there is no clear cut way of defining an Architect today.
If you go through Architecture major, you’ll soon learn that Architecture is far more than the aesthetic look of a building, it is a whole way of creating an environment based on the needs of society at large and the needs of the client. Architects are more of intellectual visual problem solvers rather than fine artists like painters whose job is truly to create images on emotional level. In fact, it is still considered taboo and pretentious to call oneself an artist in the profession unless you’re a "starchitect" who can basically get away with anything because they’re so well known.
Also Architectural education requires you to learn about HVAC, electricity, structure, zoning code, and apply it to your design, so Architects are not devoid of scientific knowledge of construction.
What was the architectural technique that ancient Egyptians used that Inspireed Pythagoras? Describe the technique and how it relates to the Pythagorean Theorem.
i need help
i dont get it
Well since the Egyptians made that pyramid thing, and pythatgoras was really good in geometery, i’m guessing it was the pyramid? It relates to the pythagorum theroum cause when using the therum, you always need a triangle in order to solve a2+b2=c2
I want to know how can I draw a rectangle figure that is 100 feet by 120 feet using an architectural scale?
The scale that I am using is the by 3/32" architectural scale and I am trying to figure out how I can fit 100′ by 120′ rectangle of a floor plan on a 8.6′ by 11′ sheet of paper.
At 3/32" to the foot, 100′ = 9 3/8" and 120′ = 11.25". This is too large for a sheet of paper that is 8.6" x 11". You need to go to a smaller scale, such as 1/16" to the foot.
I’m trying to do an architectural midterm (take-home) and have pictures of various architectural styles. Where can I find a guide online to new york architecture (with pictures included) so that I may compare them to these?

There are buildings throughout the world that still use a simple construction for an entranceway that was used over several millennia by the ancient Egyptians in their buildings and temples. Of course, the modern counterparts have put to use all different kinds of materials that are available as a result of technological and enginerring advances and not the slabs of stone that Egypt’s masons and craftsmen employed. Other cultures and civilizations developed the more sophisticated entranceway that employed the rounded arch, but the innovation ("creative improvement") of the Egyptians was simply to place two massive slabs of sone several feet apart, and on top place a third massive stone slab that formed the passage. It is a rectangular passage primitive but functional, that people walk through that marks a stone gateway. What is this oldset of architectural innovations called?
