I plan on taking fashion design at the fashion institue of technology in the year 2010. Anybody know what the home test requires so I could get a head start? or is it always different every year?
Oh and according to the site..do we have to make the outfit we drew and show them or just draw and display the fabric?
I received a home test a few years ago. They give you a scenario for you to complete the home test. Mine was: A women is going on a vacation, she needs 4-5 looks for her vacation. So you have to do sketches and include fabric swatches (the more detailed the better). I believe you also have to write a essay telling about yourself, interest, goals, achievements. etc.
This could also helo you too, http://fitnyc.edu/html/admissions/HowDoIPrepareAPortfolio/index.html
I hope this helped, its good that your getting a head start.
so im buying a house and will be renovating it. i like modern/contemporary design so will probably be overhauling the interior alot. now i just needs ideas; i went to both home depot and expo design center to see what they have and that was good. also looking on the websites of a couple of las vegas casinos that i am a fan of (TheHotel, Wynn, Belaggio, skylofts…) and that was good too. also checked out armani casa.
anyone else have ideas as to where else to look for inspiration?
many thanks
Sometimes you can go to websites that offer floorplans of homes. Many of these sites also offer virtual tours and photos of homes that were built from their plans. Also you can view websites of some realtors that display photos of homes they are listing, usually you can search by the cost of the homes and the more expensive homes will have the highest grade materials and most up to date designs. If there is a home show or model home display in your area, you can also visit them for inspiration. Remember that your own style can come from many different designs. I myself have a preference to tuscan and tudor styles.
On the Sims DS can u still design your home liek on the Wii but DS versions. I also want to know if u still get to design your clothes and furniture on the DS Sims version.
I meant My sims DS.
You can not actually ‘build’ your town like in the wii version. But you can buy furniture once the furniture shop in the forest has unlocked. You can design clothes but only tops and not bottoms once you have unlocked that feature. Also later on in the game you can design furniture patterns but only the material patterns. The thing is you have to unlock all these features first. Annoying. I know.
Health wise not fit enough to go to college but would love to do an interior design course from home anyone any ideas on this. Any information on this would be great thanks.
Thanks Liznightngale
Thanks Terrance D. I hope your enjoying it so far. I should have done this years ago but life takes us on different paths i suppose. I’m nearly 40 but would still like to fulfill this.
Thanks Sarah A and Pierce appreciate what you said and i will e-mail you.x
The most reputable design schools in the UK for diploma courses are KLC and Inchbalds, both based in London.
KLC offers a distance learning course that is one of the best in the industry. I’d recommend avoiding Rhodec. I studied at KLC and met a number of people who attempted the Rhodec course and found it of little use, so enrolled at KLC.
See the link below for information:

Oh, and probably should mention this website:

I think my husband is talking air when he says its okay to put the TV cabinet against the floor to ceiling window to ’save’ space. We are moving into a house, so I think we have more options than staying in our current apartment. I want to put nice curtains at the window to accent the living room like ALL people do. Can anyone tell me I’m right to avoid furnitures against my floor to ceiling window and my husband is totally wrong and has no decoration sense??
You could not pay me to cover a window like that. He is NUTS.
I would like one for interior design or exterior designing, it could be a free trial or just free. I’ve looked everywhere and cant find anything, hellllp

I’m doing an assignment for my interior design degree and i’d like to know
how do housewives decorate/design their home in order to create a relaxing atmosphere for the husband?
Shannon A – i do my degree in Brisbane, australia. This is not the topic of my assignment.. its what i chose to talk about as we learn alot of psychology within interior design and i’m focusing on housewives as the olden day aim of being a housewife is to create a relaxing atmosphere for the husband
very very easy, first you think about both of y’all favorite colors.
Then get you a note pad and do room at a time and think about the things he and you like after that, start web browsing go look at places like lowe’s,home depot, bed bath & beyond also some furniture stores
go look at all the set ups they have and you go from there.
trust me it works i have been doing this for a long time.
Hi, any GOOD website URL to look at INDIA (Gujarat)’s modern home design/plan/architecture(inside and outside) for 150 sq. feet residential plot? Thanks.
.I think you’d be better served posting this on the indian site
What are the things necessary for a Handicapped friendly home?
Want Websites referrals and list of things on home designs.
Please be as complete as you can, I need these resources ASAP. THANKS!!
Wide enough for wheellchair, no sharp edges, chairs/couches high as an ADA approved toilet, nothing hard, no stone, concrete in case of falls, no slippery/waxed floors. Carpet would be great, also springy straw rugs like sisal.
